Tranquility at the W

Last year we had the privilege of taking part in creating the perfect wedding for a celebrity couple (who we shall refer to as P & J) It took place at The W Scottsdale in September, 2011 and we’re so excited to finally be able to share pictures from this fabulous event!

The festivities were led by the amazing team of Cicely Rocha Miller and Drew Coleman at Life Design Event Planning, and we had the pleasure of collaborating with them as well as other amazing vendors. Thanks to everyone involved in creating this special day.

We were responsible for all the event flowers and décor, and for this event, that was no small responsibility!

Our team at Tabletops Etc. transformed the space at the W into the wedding atmosphere of the couple’s dreams. We are so proud of the end result!

The bride and groom envisioned a color palette consisting of rich reds, varying shades of purple, and touches of silver complimented with accents of rhinestones.

We chose to use props like the candle wall at the ceremony that we had never seen used before in the Arizona market. It was important to create a unique and special atmosphere for the couple that would leave them with memories they would cherish throughout their lives.

It was extremely important to us that the bride look and feel like a princess as she walked down the aisle, and we wanted everyone to have their breath taken away by the ceremony space. We paid close attention to every detail and the effect was certainly worth the effort!

P & J decided to forgo gifts and request instead that guests donate to their charity foundation

Even the bridal bouquet had touches of sparkle. Rhinestone floral accents and a gorgeous antique broach from Claudia’s

We partnered with The Invitation Lady to create a customized escort-card wall that would double as a sparkling backdrop to the self-portrait station

Since the couple loves the ocean and met on the beach, we  wanted to include a water feature. Our team designed a custom wedding wish fountain that created a tranquil center to the festivities, and also doubled as a guestbook! Guests were invited to jot a personal note to the happy couple on a river rock and make a wish as they toss it into the fountain along with their good wishes.

Of course the fountain couldn't be complete without an elaborate flower chandelier we constructed directly above it to envelop guests in the lush atmosphere

The exquisite table settings were complete with rings masquerading as napkin holders ready to add some sparkle to guests' fingers

We created all the sumptuous textures with linens from Wild Flower Linen

The photographer, Christine Johnson, beautifully captured every detail

The full effect in the dining room. You can see all the crystal on the flower chandelier from this angle.

In order to capture a sumptuous garden-like atmosphere in an indoor space, we surrounded the guests with flowers, using organic material to create clean lines, and juxtaposing natural elements such as tree stump tables with sleek, modern elements of design.

Because of the size constraints of the space at the W, we had to re-purpose the ceremony room, transforming it into a late night dance party atmosphere during the cocktail hour. The amazing carnation covered columns were re-positioned and the arch remained with a fun love seat placed underneath.  This was a great spot for picture taking!

We were involved in virtually every aspect of the wedding, even providing fresh flowers the cake designer, Tammy Coe Cakes, would render with confection on the cake. Didn't they do an exquisite job?

Here's a close up of the flower covered column pictured above

The bride and groom didn’t want their wedding to end, and could be seen dancing the last dance happily in each other’s arms at 2am.

Something that caught my "Pinterest"

I was online looking on Pinterest for new and creative ideas and came across this. *Side note. If you haven't checked out this site, I highly recommend it!

How cute is that?

What you do:
1. Handwash the glass
2. Use blue masking tape to tape off the area you want to paint.

3. Make sure the surface is clean and dry.
4. Spray two coats of the chalkboard paint. Wait about 20 minutes between coats.
5. Let it dry overnight.
6. Take plain white chalk and rub the side all of the entire chalkboard surface. Clean with water and dry.

Some tips:
  • Wash these by hand.
  • When painting, do light coats.
  • Lightly sand smooth surfaces before painting if desired.
  • Chalk markers or pencils work better than hand held pieces of chalk.
*Thank you to Maryland Pnk and Green for this great idea!

Glittering Glamour- S&J

It was all glitter and glam for this bride on the day of her wedding. She was anything but traditional and it made her wedding a day to remember.

Her bouquet was full of roses and wrapped in plenty of sparkle to compliment her dress, veil and accessories.

The men followed suit and were each adorned with a single white rose

The bridal party bouquets were all white roses with the bridesmaid's accented with long black feathers which were incorporated in the ceremony and reception. .

The ceremony was beautiful. Rose petals lined the aisle as she walked, and the chairs were decorated in black and white feathers. The bride and groom stood on an elevated gazebo facing the audience while the minister administered the service from the aisle. It was so fun to work with this wedding. The couple sparkled far more than anything there.
